I believe one simple thing: that you should be happy in life as much as possible. You do that by being grateful for you.
You can’t be happy (like Patrick) unless you’re you…strong, unique, and phenomenal you. I’m going to give you 5 reasons right now why you should be grateful for yourself. Reasons why you should be thankful that you are the way you are.
Usually, I’d have a lot more words here, but the quicker I start, the faster you get to loving you.
REASON 1: YOU LEAD A MUCH HAPPIER LIFE IF YOU WERE ALWAYS GRATEFUL
It’s that simple, really. You should always strive towards happiness. Joy can come in an infinite amount of ways and loving yourself is one of those ways. Taking the time to learn about you is so important. Pay attention to the things that make you feel good and the things that make you want to hide away from the world.
Learning to bring out that hidden confidence within you and showing off your real self to the world will bring you an abundant amount of joy. Truly being thankful that you are the way you are and not another human being will make your life on Earth much easier.
You don’t have to worry about what people may think about you. You’ll stop focusing on the things that make you different in a negative way and talk about them in an assured manner. You’ll believe in yourself so much that you won’t be afraid of going out and doing whatever the fuck you want. Doesn’t that sound amazing?
REASON 2: YOU’VE GOTTEN THROUGH A LOT OF HARD TIMES
A lot of the time we’re grateful for a family member, a friend, or even a stranger for helping us get through a rough patch (and we should be)! However, do you ever take the time to thank yourself after thanking them?
If you think about it, they were the ones who motivated you and gave you advice, but in the end who was the one that got through it?
You made it because they gave you the push but you were the one who decided that you’d make it somehow and do anything you could to get out of a hard time.
It was you who struggled, but overcame. You should be eternally grateful for that. For the fact that you were able to somehow bring out the optimistic side of you and conquer.
Be proud of yourself. You’re stronger than you think.
REASON 3: YOU BRING JOY
So what if this is a selfish reason? In some shape or form, you make the world a better place. Be grateful for yourself because without you the world would be a duller one. You bring a special kind of light to Earth. Whether that is in your actions, words, mind, smile, etc.
You bring the planet something fresh and new and it’s one thing that makes the world go round. Okay, so maybe that last one isn’t scientifically proven, but you get the point right? You’re special, you should know it, and the world would suck without you.
REASON 4: YOU’RE GOING TO DIE…JUST KEEP READING
Life is fucking short. Why would you live this one life despising yourself? You just (hopefully) read my 3 other points so you should know why you should be grateful for yourself. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather live my life in love with myself.
I’d rather not be in pain because I think that I’m too fat or that my personality is too bland or bubbly. I’m going to instead accept that I am who I am and not try to change that. I only change if it’s to improve who I am (and only for me, not for anybody else).
“Quit slackin’ and make shit happen.” -no clue
There are more people than you know who put on a mask every single day, but I say take that shit off. Face what you’re feeling, stop complaining and get to working on yourself. It may sound harsh, but sometimes that’s what you need.
You won’t get better unless you do something about it; you can’t expect to magically love yourself fully one day. You’re going to have to put in the work. Be grateful for you because one day you’re going to die. Die in a state of self-love. Is that too morbid? Let’s get back to reality then.
REASON 5: SOMETIMES, ALL YOU NEED IS YOU
What I mean by this is sometimes what you need isn’t encouragement from someone else. You think you need advice from your best friend, but that isn’t the case in certain times.
What you need are you and your thoughts and beautiful mind. There are times when only you can help yourself. You have to meditate or you have to look inside and find out what you need. You have all the answer locked up inside of you and you know it.
Be grateful for you because you can always depend on yourself to find the right answer. Your gut is always sending you messages with the right thing to do. You just have to listen.
