“You’ll get there when the time is right. Just keep going.” —Unknown

I strongly believe that we don’t get the things that we want for a reason. Even though sometimes we’ll beg and cry for something great to occur, it doesn’t happen. Has that ever happened to you? Even, though it sucks, I think there’s a reason why we don’t get the things that we want at the time that we want it.

This happens for 2 reasons:

  • We’ll get something even greater when the time comes, even if it’s a while before it does
  • We’re being protected by something bigger than us

Let’s say that you want to get a car and you have the money, so you decide that the next morning you’re going to go to a car dealership and buy a vehicle. However, when you wake up the next morning, there’s a thunderstorm, so you don’t go.

But, for the next week, it continues to rain. Eventually, you get angry because you still have to walk to the bus stop to get to work, and you regret not having bought it that day you decided you wanted a car. Plus, you’re arriving to work all wet.

That rainy week passes by and you’re about to head out to a car dealership when you get a call. You pick up and the caller identifies themselves as a worker from Store X. Before you could ask why in the world they were calling you, they tell you that you’ve won the car that they were giving away in the “2017 annual giveaway” contest.

Obviously, you’re shocked. You didn’t even remember that you had entered your name into the raffle 2 months ago! You put it in just for fun, not even thinking that you had the slightest chance of winning because there were so many names in there.

But, there you are, on a phone call with someone telling you that you’ve won a car. All of a sudden that whole week of getting to work soaking wet because you couldn’t buy a car doesn’t seem so bad. In fact, you’ve never been for grateful for the storm.

So, you see what I mean? Even though this imaginary “you” hated the weather for not being able to buy a car, it all happened for a reason. The Universe or whatever you believe in, was on your side even though it didn’t seem that way.

The Universe was protecting you from spending a lot of money because it had something great for you for when the time came.

This is how it works with lots of things. You ask the Universe for stuff and you don’t get them, but it might just be because you’ll be getting something bigger and better.

However, that may not only be the case. Sometimes, you won’t get something because you’re being protected. You think you want something, but in reality, it won’t do you any good.

To explain, read the poem down below. Blythe Baird explains everything better than I ever could. 🙂

Theories About The Universe By Blythe Baird

“I am trying to see things in perspective.
My dog wants a bite of my peanut butter
chocolate chip bagel.
I know she cannot
have this because chocolate makes dogs
very sick.

My dog does not understand this.
She pouts and wraps herself around my leg like a scarf and purrs and tries to convince me
to give her just a tiny bit.
When I do not give in, she eventually gives up and lays in the corner, under the piano, drooping and sad.

I hope the
universe has my best interest in mind like I have
my dogs.

When I want something with my whole
and the universe withholds it from me,
I hope the universe thinks to herself:
Silly girl.
She thinks this is what she wants,
but she
does not understand how it will hurt

Trust that you’re being protected. Trust that something out there is keeping you in mind and taking care of you.

The reason that I’m telling you this is that sometimes you won’t get your way and others times you will, but it’ll take a while. What I need you to do when that happens is not give up.

You just need to believe that there’s something bigger out there guiding you and trust it.
